Sarah Kottman is the founder of Natures Happiness. Natures Happiness came about in 2013 due to a need for a wholesome, organic and allergen-free formula for toddlers. It has since become a company that prides itself on creating high-quality organic, wholesome, nutritious and allergen-free for mothers and their kids. Natures Happiness continues to innervate and develop new product to support those who have not yet had support from other product on the market.

When did you start your business?
I started Natures Happiness in 2013, and we officially launched the first product in the range in 2014.
What was the inspiration behind starting this business?
My son had given up breastfeeding at 14month but still needed something. There was no organic vegan toddler formula on the market, so I created two formulated to suit children aged 12 months up with my knowledge in nutrition and health.
What are you most excited about in your business?
I can help make life a little simpler for mums everywhere as they do not need to worry about reactions or that their child is not getting what it needs. I love being able to help mums breastfeed for longer and give them more energy in the process.
What has been the most challenging thing about starting your business?
I was the first person to develop and bring to market a toddler formula that was completely dairy-free and soy-free, and it was well ahead of its times as the knowledge around dairy intolerance was not yet well known. We didn’t look at our diets as closely as we do now. It was also a very different style of formula as I wanted to get away from the traditional formula styles, making it more wholesome, organic, and with more purpose by supporting a toddler growth and development and other aspects like sleep. It meant that I had to do a lot more marketing and educating around the product.
What advice would you give to other women thinking about starting a business?
Make sure you have a clear plan about what it is you want to achieve? Have a clear vision of what you want to give people or how you want them to feel. Know your Why is so important so that your vision and mission can come to life and be everything you want them to be.
Why did you enter the AusMumpreneur Awards?
I saw it as an opportunity to celebrate my wins and be proud of what I had achieved so far within my business.
What did you enjoy the most about being part of the awards?
I loved that a bunch of women and I did it together and celebrated it together. I loved watching all the amazing women and what they do and offer to the world; it was truly inspirational.
How did the awards help you in your business?
I was featured twice in the local Newspaper and then gained trust with the journalist, and since then, we have had multiple options locally to promote my newest business, Soul Spectrum.
What advice would you give to others mums thinking about entering the awards?
Give it a go; you have nothing to lose and everything to gain. It a wonderful experience, and whatever happens, you can be proud you entered and took that next step.
What’s happening next in your business? Any big plans for the future?
As mentioned, I recently opened up a holistic wellness centre in North Lakes, which currently has nine wonderful women working together, supporting each other business and helping them grow. It feels like a family.
Natures Happiness launched the breastfeeding shake once again, a process of education that one does not need to go straight to formula but can support their lactation if they wish to continue feeding.
