My Name is Kimmie Fox and I am the Founder and director of Bombshell Beauty Academy!

When did you start your business?
I started freelancing in beauty when I was 17 and pregnant to support myself and my unborn son after quitting my job as waitress, which had been physically taxing on my body whilst carrying a child. I took clients from home in between nap time when he was born and built up my clientele of my home business. 7 Years later  in 2018 I opened a commercial salon and training academy “Bombshell Beauty Academy” with the goal in mind to help other young women build their own careers around a family like I had.

What was the inspiration behind starting this business?

I always loved makeup, hair and beauty from a young age, so when I was looking for a way to support myself and my son I knew it had to be something I loved doing.
The flexibility I was able to create by starting my freelanced beauty business helped me be the best mum I could be for my children and also gave me financial freedom which I’d never had before, so naturally when I opened the training academy I wanted to help other mums achieve their goals who were in a similar position to me that wanted the flexibility and financial freedom of their own schedule.

What are you most excited about in your business?
I love and am so passionate about the way we are able to help so many men and women break into the beauty industry, we’ve given these people the freedom they need away from a 9-5 job.
I get excited about the way we are slowly changing the education needed for all different learning styles, we cater to all of the learning styles. Not just one or two like mainstream learning systems.

What has been the most challenging thing about starting your business?

Covid definitely hit us in the beauty industry so hard. Before we launched our courses online we were drowning in debt and I honestly was expecting us to not see the other side of covid. That is until I launched our Beginners makeup course online and it was a hit! We had 5000 enrolments in the first month of launching and it helped us see that the future of our business was online and e-commerce.

What advice would you give to other women thinking about starting a business?

There is never a perfect time to start, Procrastination is the biggest killer of dreams! You can start taking a few steps to start your business right now which will get the ball rolling!
