Lash Envy Melbourne was created in 2008.

What was the inspiration behind starting this business?

Angela Kennedy’s inspiration for starting Lash Envy Melbourne came from a desire to find a business that offered flexibility for future motherhood. After personal hardships, including a miscarriage and the GFC, she pursued lash extensions, an emerging industry at the time. Her passion for the craft led her to complete a course in Dublin, and upon returning to Australia, she launched Lash Envy Melbourne from her home, balancing her business aspirations with becoming a mother.

What are you most excited about in your business?

Angela is most excited about expanding Lash Envy, and mentoring more women toward financial independence.

What has been the most challenging thing about starting your business?

Angela’s advice for first-time business owners is to:

  2. Avoid Borrowing from Friends or Family**: Invest your own money to stay committed, especially when challenges arise.
  3. Spend Money When You Make Money**: Reinvest earnings into your business rather than trying to start with the best of everything.

What’s happening next in your business?

Next in Angela Kennedy’s business, she is preparing to step on stage in October at Australia’s largest lash and brow conference as a keynote speaker. She will discuss how to build a multi-million dollar business and aim to lead and inspire hundreds of industry professionals.

What are your big plans for the future?

Angela Kennedy’s big plans for the future include growing her business to achieve a $20 million turnover by 2030. She aims to open more salons, including a location in Geelong in 2025, and ultimately have 10 salons in Melbourne. Additionally, Angela plans to expand her online supplies store and training academy while transitioning away from the salon floor to focus on mentoring and public speaking.
