Our team of cleaners are friendly local Mums/Nannies that are fully trained, reliable and understand what needs to be done in a busy home. We pride ourselves on doing the small extras that other cleaners do not which makes the difference between a high quality house clean and your standard service.
When did you start your business?
I started Mums2Mums Northern Beaches in 2013. I then franchised the business in 2020 (Mums2Mums Home Services).
What was the inspiration behind starting this business?
Mums2Mums Home Services was born when I realised there were two common problems we have today, not having the time to maintain our homes and a lack of jobs with flexible hours and days for Mums returning to work. I also recognised that there were only a handful of cleaners that provided high quality house cleaning services at a reasonable price. I also did not want to return to my full time Job in the corporate world and place my daughter in care full time.
We had constant request from clients outside of our area so that’s when I decided to franchise the company. I wanted to give other Mums the chance to have flexible working hours & work from home like myself. Mums2Mums has now been franchised so other Mums can be in business and have the flexible hours and work from home & we currently have 12 Franchises.
What are you most excited about in your business?
Growing into new locations, it so exciting to see a business idea that you created growing and becoming successful in new locations. Also supporting our franchisees to achieve their business goals too, that’s probably the most rewarding to be honest, you feel as much joy as they do when they succeed.
What has been the most challenging thing about starting your business?
Navigating Covid and leading my franchisees through this time, it was unchartered waters and we saw competitors closing up around us, but we changed our business model and we were lucky everyone survived & came out stronger.
What advice would you give to other women thinking about starting a business?
Go for it! But also do something you are good at & will enjoy, I’m not creative at all but I made a successful business from cleaning. Oh and be prepared for the ups and the downs, it’s never a smooth ride but its super rewarding.
Why did you enter the AusMumpreneur Awards?
I had been watching from afar for a few years but never thought I would ever do it or be good enough to go up against all the amazing businesses I saw, I just thought why not give it a shot & I’m really glad I did.
What did you enjoy the most about being part of the awards?
The support that’s out there for Mums just like myself & seeing all the success stories.
What surprised you most about the awards?
All the different businesses that had entered & won, the community of Ausmumpreneurs is a lot bigger than I thought.
How did the awards help you in your business?
It helped validate our business, I have spoken to potential franchisees who know of the awards & I believe being able to use our winner badge is going to validate the business for future clients too.
What advice would you give to other mums thinking about entering the awards?
Go for it! It’s a great experience to meet others just like yourself and learn from other Mums in business too. If you don’t place or become a finalist it’s worth it just for the networking and support you get.
What has been the best thing about starting your own business?
Hands down getting to be a stay at home Mums to my two girls & be there for every school/sports event. Also seeing my franchisees grow, we are like a big family now.
What’s happening next in your business?
We are going to continue franchising and also move into other states now that COVID allows that.
What are your big plans for the future?
My big plan is to go international – that would be amazing to see it be successful in another country.
