When did you start your business?

Our family business commenced in 1998, when I was 16. I have worked in every capacity and took over as CEO in 2014 and owner officially in July 2015.

What was the inspiration behind starting this business?

I never planned to take over, I had an amazing corporate career and I could see that the business was failing, so I stepped in to help. I realised how much I had been missing out on and what was truly important to me and that’s caring for people, so I took over as CEO and then bought the business in 2015.

What are you most excited about in your business?

The opportunity to literally change lives – providing the care that patients deserve and going the extra mile to make it an experience, not just necessary.

What has been the most challenging thing about starting your business?

Getting buy in from clients who can get cheaper service elsewhere. We had to demonstrate our value and values – getting that first yes and allowing us to provide care to see the difference.

What advice would you give to other women thinking about starting a business?

Have fun with it! It is serious but look for the fun bits – make it fun!

Why did you enter the AusMumpreneur Awards?

This community, whether nominee, finalist, or winner is amazing. Everyone is supported, celebrated and seen – no matter big fish or just starting. For me the recognition amongst my peers and people who I really value is so meaningful.

What did you enjoy the most about being part of the awards?

The things I learnt about myself in completing the application – taking the time to reflect and put myself forward.

What surprised you most about the awards?

The interviews!! They were so amazing, like a chat with friends who only want to support and champion you!

How did the awards help you in your business?

This award cements how amazing our business is and what we do is in line with our values and we can demonstrate that to our clients and team members by showing them we won!

What advice would you give to other mums thinking about entering the awards?

Do it! Regardless of what happens, put yourself forward, be your own biggest champion and make it happen for you!

What has been the best thing about starting your own business?

Freedom! I answer to no one and everyone – I can make a change to my policies without asking higher management permission or committees, etc. I can reward my staff how I see fit and I can control how big or small I want to be! I also can give back to my community and we do so many donations and causes to make sure our team see their hard work gives back to their community!

What’s happening next in your business?

So many things!! We have some amazing ideas inspired by other Ausmumpreneurs that we will work with and collaborate on.

What are your big plans for the future?

Expansion to take National really National!
