When did you start your business?
2017
What was the inspiration behind starting this business?
I was asked by the Principal at one of my son’s schools if I would consider helping other mothers when they first arrived at the school after a neurodiverse diagnosis for their child.
What are you most excited about in your business?
Watching the ripple effect of supporting mothers, the way they then parent, the way they then interact at work, at home and in their communities.
What has been the most challenging thing about starting your business?
The ‘business side of everything’. Working in the corporate world, if I needed a course developed or even the collateral for my facilitation and training roles I had access to a department that did it for me. When you run your own business you literally need to do it all yourself or find someone that you trust to help and support you. The learning curve was huge.
What advice would you give to other women thinking about starting a business?
Get a Business Coach. Find someone who is doing what you want to do and ask them for help. I did a lot of research and found someone early in my journey to help me avoid many pitfalls I have seen others fall into.
Why did you enter the AusMumpreneur Awards?
A number of reasons. Firstly it’s an amazing way to take stock of where your business is, collating all of the information for the questions is actually really exciting because it’s a snapshot of how you are performing and a reminder of all the amazing people you have supported in the last twelve months. Secondarily for my clients, my clients are why my business is a success and they get a trill out of seeing me achieve as well.
What did you enjoy the most about being part of the awards?
The people. The awards attract such a high caliber of women. It’s rare to be in a room where everyone supports everyone, and watching the connections and friendships made was truly heartwarming.
What surprised you most about the awards?
The people, the collaborations, the support everyone was giving each other. The feeling in the room was like a big hug.
How did the awards help you in your business?
An award that holds this prestige in the marketplace is an affirmation that what I am doing has value, it shows not only my current clients but also prospective clients that I am truly at the top of my game. They can trust me and have faith that I know what I am doing
What advice would you give to other mums thinking about entering the awards?
Do it. Don’t think about it, just do it. Get in that room to be inspired, to make connections, to congratulate yourself in what you are doing.
What has been the best thing about starting your own business?
My clients. I am honoured every day that women trust me with their innermost thoughts, their frustrations, their fears and also their dreams and aspirations. Being a small part of that, watching them achieve goals they thought were out of reach, that is why I do what I do.
What’s happening next in your business?
Moving more into the Speaker space, to reach and impact more women. To continue to advocate and speak out about diversity and inclusion.
What are your big plans for the future?
To impact 10,000 mothers worldwide to know that they can juggle their professional and personal lives without overwhelm,
