Tell us the story behind why you love what you do and why you’re so passionate about sharing your message?

I often tell people I love my job. I sat down 12 months ago to figure out why. I came up with the conclusion that it’s the people, the impact and the influence and acceptance you can have on ones life. Coming from an accounting background for 11 years, I never got to live my full potential. Helping other. I vowed to make them feel something when their with me, whether I apply makeup to them to make them FEEL beautiful or guide them on using products to give them CONFIDENCE in doing it themselves. Everyday I make sure I am doing something inspirational or generous for someone else. I was given two hands, one to help myself and one to help others. I came up with my motto “Empowering you to feel beautiful so you have the confidence to be the person you need to be”.

Tell us a story about a challenging time you faced, how you overcame it and what lesson/lessons/wisdom this experience has taught you about life and business.

Being self taught (which is extremely common within the MUA industry) I come up against a lot of challenges within the industry of opinions suggesting I do not have adequate formal qualifications to make me qualified for my business. Dealing with these challenges can be hard. By constantly learning new techniques and providing increased services in my studio, the opinions are dealt with without even needing addressing.

I am an entrepreneur by definition. My talents and my passion of make up application are why my services are in demand and by business is booked out for the remainder of 2018 and all but for 2019. My business growth speaks for itself, as does the demand for the services I am adding.

What are 3 pieces of advice you would give someone starting out in business?

1. Never stop learning – There are always new techniques and skills to be learnt at any age.

2. Wing it – Say yes now and figure out the details later.

3. Don’t dis the haters or the competition, use their words or disbelief to light the fire brighter and use them as an inspiration for the next great idea.

What is your proudest business achievement? Why does this mean so much to you?

My business was self-funded by initially working three jobs. As a wife and a mother of a young family there have been some big sacrifices made by myself in order to be in the financial position to be able to create DAACK™ Pty Ltd and be debt free.
I worked part time in Business Management for my father, working nights and weekends building Felicity Cahill Makeup Artistry and then took on a third job in Business Development which was to fund taking Felicity Cahill Makeup Artistry, from being a weekend business working out of my home, to its own studio shop front, creating my own range of DAACK™ products and founding DAACK™ Makeup Academy. It means so much to me, as it has proven my determination and work ethic. I have done it all on my own and I still continue to amaze myself at the ideas I think of and the way I execute things.

Finally, what do you believe is the secret to success?

I have a few, they are for another day – Before my career is over I am going to write a “Tell All” book. But for now, my main secret to success is research, development, and continuous learning. I set myself a target of learning one new thing a day. Whether that be business related, makeup related or just how to be a better mum or person.
