Nicola Le Lievre is an award-winning business owner and is our 2020 AusMumpreneur QLD-NT Hair & Beauty Business Silver Award winner.

Nicola is a red lipstick lover whose passion is making woman feel and look beautiful. She is proudly surpassing 22 years in the beauty industry and has crafted her passion into becoming a multi-award-winning industry leader featured on Channel 7, The Courier Mail and 9News. Nicola owns intherapy – Ethical Beauty and founder of volunteer group, Tender Loving Beauties giving back to community in need of some tender loving care. Nicola’s business is closely aligned with her personal values: ethical, sustainable, and supporting Australian Brands.

When did you start your business?

intherapy founded in 2011. I started managing the salon in 2019 and purchased the business in 2014..

What was the inspiration behind starting this business?

It has been a dream since a very young age to open my own Beauty Salon. When the opportunity came to purchasing the business, I was managing I grabbed it with both hands.

What are you most excited about in your business?

I love making woman look and feel amazing every day. I am proud of our core values which is sustainable, ethical, and supporting Australian made and owned brands. I have built a great team culture as well as stellar guest journey and experience.

What has been the most challenging thing about starting your business?

The transition from manager to owner was certainly not an easy one, however I never looked back. It was all about surrounding myself with the right people and team who had the same values and vision.

What advice would you give to other women thinking about starting a business?

Find a tribe of people who will support and encourage you along the way. Source a great accountant to support you with your numbers which is so important to know. Have a solid business plan and know your values and non-negotiables. Believe in yourself and take responsibility.

Why did you enter the AusMumpreneur Awards?

It was a great opportunity to reflect on my business as well as celebrate wins. I love to challenge myself. I really enjoy the sisterhood the AusMumpreneur community brings.

What did you enjoy the most about being part of the awards?

Connecting with other businesswoman and hearing their stories. It is nice to also connect with women not from the same industry. I have made lifelong friends through being part of the awards.

What surprised you most about the awards?

How lovely everyone is and willing to share ideas as well as success stories. I enjoyed sharing my ideas. As well as inspiring others. I really enjoyed the online platform this year and was fortunate to be invited to do a presentation on “The Power Of Being Uniquely You”.

How did the awards help you in your business?

I am very proud to be a 2020 Silver Winner for the Hair and Beauty. It creates a great feeling within the team and guests as well as social proof. We have the logo displayed on our website and a beautiful award in salon.

What advice would you give to others mums thinking about entering the awards?

Go for it! You will never know if you don’t try. Stay in your own lane and do not get distracted with what others are saying or doing, Back Yourself.

What’s happening next in your business? Any big plans for the future?

I am stepping out of my business slightly at the moment and working on my personal branding “The Red Lipstick Effect” which is inspiration & empowerment speaking, coaching and workshops. I am also in the process of writing a book.
