Virago Logistics is a boutique third-party logistics company based in Melbourne. We specialise in creating bespoke solutions for your eCommerce brand. As the client first, Virago Logistics is made by brands, for brands.

When did you start your business?

We started in 2021

What was the inspiration behind starting this business?

Virago started really organically, as we both were looking to outsource our fulfilment for our own eCommerce brands. And we were unable to find the right solution, that really understood our brands the way we did. With over seven years of experience in the fulfilment of our own brands, we created Virago Logistics.

What are you most excited about in your business?

Virago started really organically, as we both were looking to outsource our fulfilment for our own eCommerce brands. And we were unable to find the right solution, that really understood our brands the way we did. With over seven years of experience in the fulfilment of our own brands, we created Virago Logistics.

What has been the most challenging thing about starting your business?

Scale. We grew 830% in the year 2022-2023 and this meant that we had to staff up quickly. It meant cracking a new level of small business, hiring and training fast, and then up-skilling our knowledge in employment practices. It also meant locking down processes and changing things as required.

However whilst this is challenging, it has been the best experience. We’ve hired some incredible people who have really allowed us to take our business to the next step.

What advice would you give to other women thinking about starting a business?

That nothing worth having comes easily. We’ve both started and owned 6 businesses between us. Whilst we no longer have that many anymore. (We’re down to 4). That each of these is like adding a new child to your family. They need a lot of support, work and money.

However, if you back yourself you can make anything happen. We believe in the power of manifestation and goal setting. Days won’t always be easy, you might want to quit 1000 times, but if you believe in yourself you will make it work.

Why did you enter the AusMumpreneur Awards?

We entered AusMum because after 3 years we finally had a story worth telling. We are really in the second stage of our business and we look forward to moving to the next stage.

What did you enjoy the most about being part of the awards?

The networking. We met so many other incredible women on amazing business journeys that were really inspiring.

What surprised you most about the awards?

NA

How did the awards help you in your business?

As small business owners, we work in silos. We’re the only women we know who own our own business. Being at the AusMum Awards allowed us to meet other incredible ladies on their entrepreneurial journeys. We’re connecting with women who can complement our business, but also connecting businesses to businesses.

What advice would you give to other mums thinking about entering the awards?

Do it. It was a really great experience to network with other incredible women.

What has been the best thing about starting your own business?

For us, it’s creating the roles that we want. Building the life that we want. Having complete control of our destiny is what is the most exciting. We’re serial entrepreneurs so it just makes sense for us.

What’s happening next in your business?

The biggest thing coming our way is the retail high season of BFCM which is likely landing earlier this year.

What are your big plans for the future?

We want to continue to refine our processes, take on more brands and continue to grow. We are always looking inside to see what we can mould, and change and how we can evolve. We want to be the best fulfilment company in Melbourne and we believe we can get there.
