When did you start your business?

In early 2020, I started a role in the Health and Wellness sales space. I felt that I had found my calling. But when the pandemic arrived, my new role vanished, as did my sense of self. After over 20 years of career success, I felt old and discarded. With my self esteem in the toilet, I had to pivot and find my “new place”. I realised that I was not in control of much in that moment, apart from my health. I thought, “if there’s only one thing you can be the boss of, make it your health”. And from that initial lightbulb moment, HEALTH BOSS was born.

What was the inspiration behind starting this business?

I was driven to start my business for both my own health, and the health of ageing women. Those who may feel like they are becoming invisible in our world of youth and swift changing trends. I have suffered chronic neck pain for over 20 years, so that also was an inspiration for me to create specific supplements to assist with joint pain and mobility.

What are you most excited about in your business?

I get excited about new health and wellness discoveries. About hearing results from customers using my range.

What has been the most challenging thing about starting your business?

Learning TGA requirements, hearing feedback from the TGA (about some of my errors), and packaging boo-boos (that I fixed, and will NOT be repeated). All lessons…

What advice would you give to other women thinking about starting a business?

Do it. If not now, when? If not you, who? (not my quote, but I love it).

Why did you enter the AusMumpreneur Awards?

I entered to be a part of something – and I am so glad that I did. I didn’t quite realise the community that comes with a room full of Mums on a mission! There was support, care and celebration. I am glad that I entered an Award, and that I came home with not only some recognition (via an award), but a new community who are all in my corner!

What did you enjoy the most about being part of the awards?

The new community that I am now a part of. The support that I feel, and the recognition that I have received.

What surprised you most about the awards?

Actually, the sense of community I felt, and the support from others on a similar journey, with similar highs and lows as I have faced/ and am facing still.

How did the awards help you in your business?

Just more awareness with like-minded women, whom I now feel are my tribe.

What advice would you give to other mums thinking about entering the awards?

Don’t hesitate. Jump in. Give it a go, and you just might win. And if you don’t win an award, you will still win. With a new community, friends, and peers.

What has been the best thing about starting your own business?

Some freedom (time for my daugher, during working hours), a feeling of achievement, and knowing that I am making a difference to ageing women’s health.

What’s happening next in your business?

I will be rolling out some new lines soon – specifically a menopause supplement, and perhaps something that cares for the men in our lives too. Becuase although the focus of Health Boss is for Women’s Health, we also care for the men!

What are your big plans for the future?

To be known in the Health and wellness industry as a business with a proven range. I have much in the pipeline, and it is hard to outline it in a snapshot.
