I’m Mel, a multi business owner. I own Get Nayld, and nail salon in Canberra and Cut The Crap Nail Supplies PTY LTD. I am a boy mum and love helping other women grow their business.

Year 2020
What was the inspiration behind starting this business?
I wanted Australia nail techs to have a variety of nail products available in Australia that weren’t available. A professional only brand that isn’t available to the general public.
What are you most excited about in your business?
That I get to support new small businesses and watch them grow and evolve into the best they can be.
What has been the most challenging thing about starting your business?
Being a professional only brand.
Bigger competitive businesses.
What advice would you give to other women thinking about starting a business?
Be unique, original and don’t give up.
Why did you enter the AusMumpreneur Awards?
I wanted to surround myself with like minded women, and to help support other women in business. I also wanted to feel appreciated and recognised for my hard work.
What did you enjoy the most about being part of the awards?
Networking with like minded women. I have met and have continued friendships with many.
What surprised you most about the awards?
Coming third. Little old me with my online business stood out amongst many bigger businesses. What an achievement.
How did the awards help you in your business?
Helped me promote other small businesses to get involved. Gave me a sense of achievement.
What advice would you give to other mums thinking about entering the awards?
You won’t regret it, even if you don’t win the experience is unlike no other, and the women you meet along the way is priceless.
What has been the best thing about starting your own business?
Being my own boss, knowing that a single mum of 5 boys can do amazing things.
What’s happening next in your business?
We are growing our product line and growing our education team to help others build the best business they can.
What are your big plans for the future?
Opening up our distribution network to interstate and international markets.
